Women's Blood And Guts Match (2025)
"Paint the Skye RED."

Blood and Guts was always one of my favorite stipulations in AEW, even though it never really had a "great" match based on my criteria, but as a deathmatch FREAK, it was always a fun time watching a bunch of dudes beat each other up. AEW hasn't had a women's Blood and Guts match in its short history, which was surprising, but they never really tried to build a huge story for the women, even though 2 of the best matches that the company ever produced were women’s matches [Willow Nightingale vs Kris Statlander & Toni Storm vs Mariah May]. But this year? It was different. The roster is arguably the strongest in AEW's history, and the talent are great wrestlers... oh, and also a bunch of DEATHMATCH FREAKS.

My biggest problem with multi-wrestler stipulation matches was always that the wrestlers didn't play the roles they usually played on TV, either they went over the top and did too much, or they didn't do enough because they didn't get enough exposure in the match, especially in Blood and Guts matches, because they always focused on 1 story between 2 wrestlers, but in this match? everyone fucking ROCKED. they all told a great story with their characters, and it all made sense, Harley isn't getting much praise but she should, she played her role PERFECTLY, her strikes were weak because she was no match to the other women in the match, so she used the weapons to match them up, Megan Bayne was fucking SICK, the team work of TOM was their best work together, Toni storm did what she did best with Mina, thekla and mone kept the pacing going whenever they were in action, Willow's fighting spirit was phenomenal as usual (im gonna get to Skye blue and Marina Shafir soon), but the point im trying to make is they all went out and put 100% of what they got, and it all made sense to the story they tried to tell in the match itself.

DAMN IT I LOVE SICK BLADE JOBS.Skye Blue was absolutely phenomenal in this match, she shined like a star, just like she deserves. She’s always wanted to be in a violent match, and she did not disappoint at all. The bumps she took, the way she used the weapons, the facial expressions, she went insane. Easily the best performance of the night, and it should be enough evidence that this woman can wrestle. She showed a perfect sense of struggle in her selling, which is an art rarely appreciated in stipulation matches, so props to her for that. The entire match had some really creative spots, but the best ones were orchestrated by  SKYE. FUCKING. BLUE.

Marina Shafir.
that's all i'm gonna write and it's enough for you to understand.

Overall, this was a great match, and easily the best-structured Blood and Guts match since it got introduced. I really hope that this is a gateway for the women to get their own C2, I don’t see where it fits in the calendar, but I need it. The women are really the most weekly consistent talent on the roster next to Moxley, they deserved this match, and they deserve more.
