Akira Hokotu vs Meiko Satomura (4/29/2001)
Arabic Version

I really can’t put into words how much this match made me feel, i watched satomura’s retirement match early this year and definitely was a great match, my deep dive into her career has been pretty good so far but THIS. THIS ISN’T JUST THE PEAK OF HER CAREER, IT IS THE PEAK OF HERS, OF HOKUTO’S, AND THE PEAK OF THIS GLORIOUS SPORT.
It’s really incredible how they both performed in this match, Hokuto wasn’t really a heel but she played the heel-ish side of this story perfectly, her offence really helped me understand that she was the veteran, the strikes, the submissions, the moves, and did i mentioned THE STRIKES? She stayed in control for most of the match and it was really important to help Meiko do what she does best. HOPE.
Meiko performance is really the best underdog performance i have ever seen in my life, she sells every move with her life and makes me really believe that she’s losing, but she kicks out. She sells every suplex like it was the killer, and she kicks out. She sells every slap like it’s a knockout. And she. Kicks. Out. EVERY. FUCKING. TIME. Because this is an important match in the history of joshi wrestling. Meiko needs to prove herself against Hokuto in the same arena Hokuto wrote history against Kandori, it’s gonna be really embarrassing if she loses against a kid in the same arena that she wrote history in her own blood in right! Right?.
I really love how both women really try to do every move as fast as possible because they both acknowledge how dangerous there opponents are, and despite the rush, they excute every move perfectly.
The match structure itself is really great, Hokuto is in control for most of the match but she slowly deteriorates because whenever she thought it was over, Meiko fought back. So when Meiko was finally in control, this was her moment to shine, her moment to prove herself and itch her name in joshi wrestling history, so she points her thumb at her chest to the crowd. And the ending was perfect, they both are down from exchanging strikes, while Hokuto tries to get up first but Meiko got on her feet first, staring Hokuto in the eyes while Hokuto failed to get on her feet, and Meiko wrote her name in professional wrestling history.
This match. Is one of the best i have ever seen. It is a simple of hope, it really proves that no matter how bad you get kicked down. You will ALWAYS. Get. Up. And Meiko Got up.
