A road report on DEATH VALLEY DAYS: ROAD REPORT !
when the second D3AN~!!! Show happened last year, i decided to check out the first one, and let's say it changed my perspective on how GREAT wrestling shows can be booked, when the 3rd one got announced, when i found out that Mad Dog and Demus are stepping into the ring for a second time... i made sure to promote the show on every platform i had, Podcasts, Youtube Videos, tweets. because i knew that if Phil and Eric are gonna book a show it was gonna be great, ESSPICALLY if the main event is a rematch of one of the greatest matches to ever happen, and it was great.
on december first 2025, my phone blew up. i was always known for being an indie guy but i was also a Mad Dog Connelly guy, i mean... LOOK AT THE DUDE, but when i got the call from one of my friends that also works for @IWNArabic that Segunda Caida are doing another show with Action Wrestling WITH MAD DOG CONNELLY AND SLADE IN THE MAIN EVENT, i was tapped in, this is extremely my shit, or as i prefer to call it; Shogenism.
in this road report, i will write about my favorite matches on the show.
"RABID" RYAN MOONEY VS. DARIAN BENGSTON (C) (ACTION CHAMPIONSHIP)
I was already familiar with bengston's work. i mean he's a daniel makabe Fan and a great technical wrestler, how could i not like him if i'm also a Makabe fan and i'm trying to be a technical wrestler? but this my first time watching mooney, which was the best first introduction i could ever get, this is the perfect match to open any show with, some great fast paced action (pun intended) to get the crowd hyped up, im a sucker for Makabe locks to, especially if they are done in the TWE Arena... Makabe forever <3
ANGUS LEGSTRONG VS. OLDMAN YOUNGBOY
i have never heard of the two before the show, and i was so hyped because i trusted eric and phil with my LIFE to book 2 random wrestlers that i will be a fan of, and guess what? i am now a fan of the two, because the delivered an old school WRESTLING match, in the age of cutters and fighting spirit spots that go viral. these 2 put on a great match with some phenomenal grappling and great striking, it was very simple but the way these 2 executed the match is what made it special, this is exactly how you know how great this two are, everyone can do takedowns and cut offs, but these 2 made it seem like a task, the small struggle they added on every move was brilliant, again, this is EXTREMELY my shit, i didn't only leave this match as a fan, i left it hoping to share a ring with oldman youngboy, what a wrestler.
TIM BOSBY VS. SLIM Ji mean its Tim Bosby and SLIM FUCKING J, is there a universe where they ever deliver a match that wouldn't be greet? this was a Slim J masterclass underdog performance where he relied on comeback that were mostly from bosby's left arm while he got his ass beat by Bosby, if this match was on any other show the highlight of the show would have been that belly to belly that sent slim FLYING across the ring, while Slim was slowly building his comebacks Bosby was being a Monster, his cut offs where insane, and insane would be a slight way to put it, this man is a HEAT MAGNET, mixed with Slim's great bumping? it couldn't get any better, this is a match with a very simple structure with great execution. Bosby's timing for his cutoffs was insane too, whenever Slim got enough strength to make a comeback and you would FEEL like it's gonna work with his great expressions and body language, Bosby cut the hell out of it and put him through hell, and this made the finish look even bigger, Matt D wrote about the importance of expressions and body language a while ago, and i feel like this was his favorite match of the show.
KARL GRECO-MALENKO VS. MATT MAKOif you told me a minute before this match was announced that i would be watching Karl Greco Malenko in a BattlARTS rules match against Matt Mako i would've laughed in your face, this was the type of match that you would book in Fire pro wrestling and replay it a dozen times, but it's true, and it was better than expected, this was about Mako telling Karl that he couldn't hang around wrestlers in the ring these days, and old Veteran beating the living shit out of a new kid in the Dojo with the simplest moves ever because he let his guard down for a second, Karl shooting submissions and almost breaking Mako's limps is just proof that even after a decade; he can still fucking wrestle. and mako's submissions were just elder abuse, im just happy that i got to witness this match and see Karl in this great shape in 2026, again; this is extremely my shit.
SLADE VS. MAD DOG CONNELLYSHOOT HEADBUTTS SHOOT PUNCHES SHOOT BEATDOWNS BLEEDING WITHOUT A BLADE BITING BLOOD LICKING SHOOT HEADBUTTS SHOOT HEADBUTTS SHOOT FUCKING HEADBUTS AAAAGAGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Okay let's calm down now... after being a Mad Dog fan for a couple of years, i never really saw him with someone as "sick" as him, i mean sure Demus was more violent, Manders really put him in trouble, he wasn't as toned as he is now when he wrestled jake lander, and Shane Mercer was light work, but the only the the thought of this match was too interesting because Slade is the only wrestler in the world who's as sick as The Mad Dog, this match wasn't about trying to make Slade live his truth... this didn't have any ideas actually it was 2 sick monsters that tried to beat the shit out of eachother, you could've blindfolded me and only made me listen to Slade's jaw being almost broken from Mad dog's knuckles and Mad dog's skull cracking from the headbutts and i would've popped like a kid watching his favorite football team win, yes this wasn't really a "smart" match but mad dog being forced to do the hangman clutch with the chain just because slade bit his hand was brilliant, this is the first time i ever saw the mad dog in trouble, and slade trying to break the chain with his TEETH was just proof that if without that chain... the mad dog could've been in trouble, this wasn't just a pro wrestling match this was an experience, an ugly one too, true love for the art of pro wrestling, and a love letter for the sickos.
ps: the Punch Mad dog delivered to slade with the chain wrapped around his fist is one of the best punches i ever saw in pro wrestling
this whole show was not just great but also one of the best shows i have ever seen from the first bell to the final bell, great diversity in it's matches and talents, from rookies to talents to some of the best in the world to veterans, all lined up to deliver not only the greatest show of the year, but the 2nd best show in this decade only falling behind the first action d3an show, and one of the best shows EVER, as i repeated in all of my match reviews, this was my shit.
