Darby Allin vs. Rush - AEW Dynamite (3/25/26)
Darby Allin vs. Rush - AEW Dynamite (3/25/26)
Darby Allin barley survives, the sequel of the sequel of the seq- you know where this is going.
someone can just hold on to all frustrations but there is a time where we as humans must let everything go, and the world of pro wrestling is a mirror to our world, you can only wrestle a style that's not your favorite for so long, you can only wrestle trios matches for so long, but you need a moment where you just beat the living shit out of another wrestler, and maybe you need to get your ass beat to feel something, but this was a match infront of a crowd, and a crowd can only hold on frustrations and injustice for so long, so this was an opportunity, for Rush to beat the living shit out of a great babyface, for Darby to get his ass beat so he can do a comeback that pops the crowd, and for the crowd to chant FUCK ICE, and for me to burst into tears after this match, and all of these things didn't happen just because this was a great match, i mean it was a great match but it's also a braking point, a moment to let go of every frustration that you have and just let it all out.
this wasn't your casual ringside brawl, this was more organic than any wrestling match this year, when Rush went under the ring to find some wires and he didn't find them so he had to improvise and just try to get as much offence on Darby as he could, not because he needed to because this is what you would except from these two, but because he wanted to, and he did just that, throwing Darby into the steps, setting him up in a chair to jump over him just because he wanted to, which funny enough he ended up in that same chair eating a top rope missile dropkick. which really shows that even your "comfort places" can be against you sometimes.
Darby is the best wrestler in the world at "setting up traps" and he did that in the finish but he also did that when he trapped Rush's foot with the apron, but the best thing about these traps is that rush always escaped, and Darby kept trying because he wanted to try, people say that Darby's style is taking crazy bumps but the fact is that his style is failing and trying again, he failed against moxley before and he kept trying until he won, he failed against gabe kidd but he kept setting traps until they worked, and he kept trying until he finally could win, they weren't just smart set up traps, they were attempts at trying to survive. darby isn't "suicidal" he's a survivor, he didn't win with a coffin drop or a scorpion death lock, he survived with a pin that he got out of nowhere, he used his own selling a trap to rush so he can use whatever flashy pin he could bring out.
a chance to let go, a chance to be yourself.
this is what makes professional wrestling so beautiful, Meaningfulness.
