Mad Dog Connelly vs. Jake Lander (3/30/2022) {English}

"The Birth of the Mad Dog."
Mad Dog Connelly vs. Jake Lander (3/30/2022)
When people talk about the best mad dog matches, they often forget this one, but in my opinion, this isn't only Mad Dog's Greatest match, it is one of the greatest matches... EVER.

This is the best "Mad Dog" representation that he had ever done. From the second he walks out with the messy hair, thick beard, and a chain hanging from his hand, he already feels like a MONSTER. When he steps into the ring and immediately threatens the announcer with pliers,
The match itself never really eases up. It’s a no DQ match after all, but what makes it stand out is how deliberately they handle the chaos. Instead of rushing straight to weapons, they crash down into the mat and start scrambling, not in a technical, competitive way, but like two guys genuinely angry and trying to hurt each other. The mat work feels aggressive, ugly. They collide, gravity takes over, and the fight just keeps rolling, it wasn't random, it was Chaotic, Once they hit the floor, the violence only tightens. What separates this from so many other hardcore matches is how little empty space there is between moments. Mad Dog and Lander stay on each other constantly. Chairs and steps get moved into place, sure, but it’s done quietly, blended into selling and movement so it never feels like a pause or a reset. Everything feels like a natural escalation rather than a sequence of planned spots, AND THIS. THIS IS MY FAVORITE TYPE OF WRESTLING, when it feels like a fight, and THIS FELT LIKE A FUCKING FIGHT.

The physicality is what really sells it, though These two hit incredibly hard. Even the most obviously staged part the bar-style exchange where they’re sitting face to face WORKS because they’re throwing absolute bombs hidden as punches . The punches look and sound nasty, heavy shots straight to the face. There’s nothing pretty or artificial about it. If there’s any trickery involved, it’s completely hidden. It just comes across as raw violence, and it’s incredibly effective. these were "Steve Austin" Type of punches instead of the "Bret Hart" Type, they were VIOLENT. and somehow better than any punches Austin ever threw in his career. The match is already strong at that point, but it takes a turn once the chairs start flying. A chair catches Mad Dog in the head and the blood starts pouring LIKE A FAUCET, From there, it becomes genuinely uncomfortable in the best possible way. Even the cameraman/booker reacts audibly at points and tells them to "Go the Fuck home" . Mad Dog starts demanding to know where his chain is, and the cameraman answers him without hesitation, he was SCARED. It feels less like a performance and more like everyone in the building is just trying to survive whatever monster is in front of them.The finish is simple and smart. Mad Dog reaches for the chain and tries to choke Lander with it but he escapes and chokes Mad Dog instead, he hits him with a chair, tries to go for the chain but Lander gets to it first, wraps it around his fist, and pulls Mad Dog into it to knock him out with his own damn weapon. It’s violent, clean, and fitting exactly the kind of ending this match needed.

Matches like this one remind me why i love pro wrestling, It's violent, it's disgusting, and its so fucking beautiful and artistic, as all pro wrestling should be, this was the birth of the monster we would call "Mad Dog Connelly", he never felt more alive, he felt like he was reborn, He lived his truth, born in blood, for the sickos and the freaks (and me)
