entering this match, i thought it was gonna be good, but i didn't think it would be THIS GREAT, this wasn't shaped like a wrestling brawl, it isn't an 80s jerry lawler or terry funk match, this was like a bar fight between 2 drunken huge men, this was JD Drake and Eddie Kingston FIGHTING and it was GREAT !
Eddie played a classic heel, he wasn't trying to be over the top, He goes after Drake's eyes early, he was trying to hurt Drake but the result? Eddie hurt his hand early own, and THIS was the classic Eddie performance i was looking for, his selling of his arm was really good, he switches to open strikes trying to protect his injured hand, and this match had some of the best striking exchanges i have seen on the indies, i mean c'mon... ITS JD DRAKE AND EDDIE KINGSTON BEING RUTHLESS AND BEATING THE SHIT OUT OF EACHOTHER, this match didn't have any big spots and maybe this is why i like it, i always say i LOVE when a match doesn't feel like a classic pro wrestling match, and this match didn't, it felt like a fight, Eddie's hand got progressively fucked as the match went on, and when Drake got the shot to target Eddie's hand (When Anthony Henry interfered) and he STOMPED on eddie's hand, Eddie selling was great, but he also wasn't dumb, he threw some closed fist punches with his left hand and they were UGLY, and after each slap with his right? he made it seem like it mattered, this match treated Chops and Slaps like they mattered, and they did, the finish was great too, im a sucker for huge men doing moonsaults, and especially when its JD FUCKING DRAKE
This was RAW, it was UGLY, it was UNPROFESSOINAL, and this why it's a classic, such a great brawl, and Eddie's selling was the cherry on top, This is one of my favorite matches in the two wrestler's career, pro wrestling should look more like this, Pro wrestling needs to be more Raw.
